Narrow Birdcage

Genre: Historical Fantasy being passed off mainly as Epic High Fantasy for those who are ignorant of the culture(s). Also because I’m fudging with names left and right in a way that people wouldn’t be able to recognize right away.

Creation: Created from the second book idea and spurned on by a really crappy Korean drama version, in which authors say those fatal words, “I can do better.”

Premise: Motivated by a prophetic dream, Princess Shakti Kasasa of Ayuta traveled far from home with only her older brother to the Kingdom of Karak. The dream promised that she would give birth to a nation. But when she arrived to this new country, she found that it was torn with war–the opposition lead by her husband’s childhood friend.

Magic Akademi Wars

Genre: High Fantasy

Creation: I’ve been playing with this world for a while. I scrapped the first draft completely and restarted in 2008. There will be 3 books.

Status: Writing first Book. I have gotten to Chapter 3.

Hook:

Book 1
Life Must have Meaning.

Anthra Varan is too skinny. She can only use three kinds of magic, one of which she refuses to use. She’s a failure as a mage, especially since she’s born to a High family.

Despite this the Varan Estate tapestry showed Anthra preventing a war. A war between the disciplines of magic. Because a new kind of magic has arrived—a kind of magic the sucks the life potential out of a person’s soul. But what power could Anthra have that no one else does?

Book 2
A New Shadow has Arrived.

The shadow started as a nightmare dream for Anthra. Then the magic plague came. And then black creatures filled the night skies. A beast of two minds which screamed in the night and ate innocents. The war has a new foe.
