Money Saving Tip–Rice Cooker

Fast, cheap food, with little effort because you realize looking up, damn, it’s late and I need to eat? The God for this? Rice cooker!

You can get one that’s cheap or relatively expensive. The cheap ones are about 20 bucks, but I won’t lie to you. The more expensive ones in Asian grocery stores for 50-100 dollars are better. They cook the rice better, they are easier to clean and they generally hold more.

I know. Some of you out there don’t like rice, but you aren’t really thinking outside of the box. You can cook meat in a rice cooker. You can cook vegetables in a rice cooker. You can cook pasta in a rice cooker. And with the better models, the water will boil for you. What’s the best is if you know you’re going to be distracted, you won’t burn down the house while whatever you have cooking cooks.

It’s also a snap to clean. If you get food stuck, put in a cup of water, let it boil in the rice cooker, rinse out, wash, done.

I tend to put things like chicken in and vegetables when I really don’t feel like cooking. the chicken never dries out in the rice cooker and the vegetables never get that icky either, even when I leave it for a long time.

Why a rice cooker over a multi-purpose cooker? Because the multi-purpose cookers are more expensive for doing pretty much the same exact thing!

Buying a rice cooker also encourages you to eat rice, which is cheap and easier to make than bread.
