Kitchen Cleaning… NOOOO
You’re a student and an exam is coming up, you’re studying and cramming who wants to fail the exam when you are eating? Plus those dishes. Elew. You have to actually clean up the kitchen. Who wants to clean 3-4 dirty pots and a bunch of dishes. It’s either do that and fail or it’s work and watch the flies accumulate.
Reduce dishes
One pot meals are fast, cheap, easy, allow for studying time (I’m cooking one right now) are harder to burn, and you can cook in bulk easily without worry. Look up “crock pot” recipes. Especially with beans. They are also pretty easy to portion out and most of them freeze well. (Think chillies… most vegetable soups come out nasty when you defrost them). One pot to cook. One pot to clean. One pot to clean up. Plus you can make amazingly healthy meals with this.
If you have two pots, use the second one to cook what I would call water-cooked goods. That means things like pasta. You an clean the pot in a minute flat without worrying about burning stuff.
Clean Dishes immediately and Plan ahead
If you clean dishes immediately that also helps. Think when you make a meal about how much residue is left on your plate and what you need to soak to clean. The less you need to soak, the better off you are.
Wrap vegetable matter and tie in plastic bags
On the flies side of things. Usually most flies come from fruit and vegetables you’ve left out. Clear these from the kitchen ASAP. That means don’t leave it in the trash. If you can’t go out to dump it easily then wrap all of these goods tightly in a plastic bag and tie it off. It keeps pests out of the kitchen and keeps you from fighting bugs instead of studying.
There are times I still fall behind, but I find the faster I’m get on top of it the easier it is to bring myself to do it later. Cleaning up sucks. Who wants to clean when you could be doing something like getting your mind off of the stress and playing one more game… but if you plan right you can play your game and study while you are cooking and still clean and have time to eat and go to bed.
