50 Rejections!

Though this happened a while ago, I’m still delighted to have gotten to 50. While number 42 (which is ironic for fans of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) was the magic number that got an acceptance (for non-fiction), having 50 rejections is nice~

I would like to thank the hard work of all the editors, reviewers, betas, alphas, agents that read my questionable quality stories and made this possible. And I will be forging ahead with a bright spirit that one day I will write well enough to please you. Smiles all around for persisting this long. Hi-five? No?

I will not be grandstanding at this point and complaining about authors, agents, and how everyone is blind! I can write better… and there are always more stories on my plate than I can handle. Career Suicide and jumping off of buildings isn’t my style.

Thank you for less competition.

Thank you to the writer who can’t take constructive criticism.
Thank you to the writer who dreams the perfect story, but never writes it.
Thank you to the permanent hobby writers who will never submit.
Thank you to the 80% that did not read instructions before submitting.
Thank you to person who never researched the agent/editor, though they did follow instructions.
Thank you to those who started out “Dear Sir or Madam”.
Thank you to the mass mailers who sent out 10 queries at once.
Thank you to the writers who wrote angry tirades back to the people who rejected them.
Thank you to the permanent problemitizers.
Thank you to the people who write the query letters like the ones on slush pile.
Thank you to the people who say that they don’t need an editor.
Thank you to the writers who give up after only fifty query letters and then go on to write on their blogs about it.
Thank you to the people who posted their rejection letters and made comments on them.
Thank you to the people who put down their editors after getting published.
Thank you to the writers that give up after one rejection letter.
I thank you so much, because when you gave up and shot yourself in the foot, you gave me a chance that much more to be part of the 0.001% that gets published. And that makes me infinitely happy. For the rest of you–damn you! You are going DOWN~~~
